Bonjour and merci for stopping by!
Colic, diaper rash, and teething discomfort are all part of life with a young baby. These small challenges often punctuate the early months and can leave parents searching for gentle ways to help their child feel more comfortable.
Homeopathy has long been appreciated by families as a natural and gentle approach to supporting babies through these early stages of life. Many parents like to keep a few remedies on hand to help with the common ailments that appear during infancy.
A small baby homeopathy kit, kept at home or tucked into the diaper bag, allows parents to respond calmly when minor symptoms arise.
Below is a selection of remedies that I often recommend new parents keep on hand for common baby concerns such as teething discomfort, colic, digestive upset, and the first signs of a cold.
Why Homeopathy for Babies?
Homeopathy is particularly well suited to infants and young children.
When used appropriately, homeopathic remedies are gentle and highly diluted, making them easy for babies to tolerate. Many parents appreciate that remedies can support the body without harsh interventions during minor illnesses.
From the very first weeks of life, babies may experience digestive discomfort, teething pain, mild colds, or sleep disturbances. Homeopathy offers a gentle way to support the body through these phases.
Essential Homeopathic Remedies for Babies
When working with new parents, these are some of the remedies I often recommend keeping on hand for common baby concerns.
Remedy | When It May Help |
Aethusa cynapium | Often considered when babies regurgitate milk after feeding due to the immaturity of the digestive system. |
Allium cepa | Often used at the beginning of a cold with runny nose and irritated nasal passages. Derived from onion, which causes tearing when cut. |
Arnica montana | Useful after bumps, falls, or minor injuries. Helps when a baby seems sore or bruised after a tumble. |
Belladonna | Often used when symptoms appear suddenly, such as fever with flushed face and heat. |
Calcarea phosphorica | Frequently used during teething and growth phases. |
Chamomilla | A classic remedy for teething pain. Babies may be very irritable, difficult to console, and want to be carried constantly. |
Dioscorea villosa | A remedy for colic, particularly when the baby stretches or straightens the body during abdominal pain. |
Ferrum phosphoricum | Often considered in the early stage of fever or colds when symptoms are still mild. |
Magnesia phosphorica | A well-known remedy for colic, especially when warmth or gentle pressure helps relieve the pain. |
Nux vomica | Helpful for digestive discomfort, gas, or irritability after feeding. |
Phytolacca decandra | Helpful for painful teething, especially when discomfort seems to radiate toward the ears and babies chew intensely on objects. |
Podophyllum | Used for loose stools or diarrhea, sometimes associated with teething. |
Pulsatilla | Often helpful during colds with thicker mucus. Babies may be clingy and feel better when held or comforted. |
Sambucus nigra | Traditionally used when babies wake suddenly at night with nasal obstruction or difficulty breathing through the nose. |

How to Give a Homeopathic Remedy to a Baby
Homeopathic remedies are simple to give to infants. Pellets should always be dissolved in water before giving them to a baby. Babies should never be given the pellets in their solid form because of the risk of choking.
To prepare the remedy, place the pellets in a teaspoon of water or a small dropper with water and allow them to dissolve. This may take a few minutes, so it can be helpful to prepare the remedy about ten minutes in advance and simply allow the pellets to dissolve naturally.
Once dissolved, a small amount of the liquid can be given to the baby shortly before a feeding.
You can administer the remedy by:
• placing a few drops of the solution on the baby's lips• using a clean spoon or dropper• dissolving the remedy in a small bottle of water and allowing the baby to sip it
Because the solution is slightly sweet, babies usually take it easily.
For breastfeeding infants, the mother may also take the remedy herself. In some cases, the effect of the remedy can gently pass through the breast milk.
When to Seek Guidance
If your baby's symptoms do not improve after two or three days, it is important to seek professional advice.
Babies require particular care, and persistent symptoms should always be evaluated.
When in doubt, it is always wise to consult a qualified homeopath or your pediatrician.
A Gentle Way to Support Your Baby
Homeopathy offers parents a thoughtful way to support their baby's health while respecting the body's natural healing processes.
Used appropriately, these remedies can become trusted allies for everyday childhood bumps, teething discomfort, colic, and the first signs of illness.
If you ever feel unsure about which remedy to choose, or if your baby's symptoms are not improving, professional homeopathic guidance can help identify the remedy that best supports your baby's recovery.
If you would like personalized guidance, you can schedule an acute consultation to receive support in selecting the most appropriate remedy for your child.
A note from me
As a homeopath and a parent, I know how quickly small concerns can arise during a baby's early months. A restless night, teething discomfort, a sudden cold, or digestive upset after feeding can feel overwhelming, especially when your baby cannot yet tell you what is wrong.
Homeopathy offers a gentle way to support the body during these everyday situations. When the remedy closely matches the baby's symptoms, improvement is often calm and gradual, allowing the child to return to their natural state of balance.
While a small homeopathic kit can be very helpful for common minor ailments, each child is unique. When symptoms are persistent, unclear, or simply worrying, professional guidance can help ensure the most appropriate remedy is chosen.
My goal is always to help parents feel supported and confident while caring for their children.
A votre santé!
