How to Prepare a Water Dose
Water dosing is a method of preparing and taking a homeopathic remedy by dissolving it in water before each dose. This approach allows the remedy to be gently adjusted with each administration through a process called succussion (shaking the bottle before taking a dose).
Many homeopaths use water dosing because it provides greater flexibility in how a remedy is repeated and is especially helpful for individuals who are more sensitive to homeopathic remedies. It also allows the response to treatment to be monitored more closely and adjusted when needed.

Prepare the Water
Fill the bottle about ¾ full with spring or filtered water. Leave some air space at the top — this is important for succussion (shaking).
Add the Remedy
Add 1–3 pellets of the prescribed remedy into the water. Let the pellets dissolve completely (this may take a minute or two).
Succuss Before Each Dose
Before every dose, firmly tap or shake the bottle 5–10 times against your hand or a firm surface. This slightly alters the dose each time and helps reduce the risk of aggravation.
Take the Dose
-
Take 1 teaspoon, or as advised
-
For infants or very sensitive individuals, even a small sip may be sufficient
Storage & Duration
-
Keep the bottle away from heat, sunlight, strong smells, and electronics
-
A water dose typically stays fresh for 3–5 days in the refrigerator
-
If it becomes cloudy or develops an odor, discard and prepare a new one
Optional: Preserving the Water Dose
To extend shelf life, you may add 1 teaspoon of alcohol (vodka or brandy) to the bottle. This is helpful when the remedy will be used over several days.
